    Hi all

I have set up polls on reddit/actuaryuk (see e.g. https://www.reddit.com/r/ActuaryUK/comments/na4sg0/may_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/) - if this would be helpful, I can set up similar polls on here too - if so let me know and I will do so:

"The IFoA expects all its members to comply with the Actuaries' Code. As a regulator, it is meant to lead by example.

Please give your rating for the IFoA with regard to your view of the integrity of its actions, on a scale of 1 (very poor) to 5 (very good). If you don't want to vote, please select 0, which is included for Just Show Me The Results.

The Actuaries' Code Principle 1 states (see https://www.actuaries.org.uk/upholding-standards/standards-and-guidance/actuaries-code):

    Integrity

    1. Members must act honestly and with integrity.

The Guidance for Principle 1 includes (see the link to section 3 at the above page for the full guidance):

3.1 Members are expected to demonstrate high standards of behaviour. This is reflected in the first 3.1 principle of the Code, which states:

“Members must act honestly and with integrity.”

Acting in an ethical and professional manner

3.2 Integrity is generally accepted as a fundamental requirement to act in an ethical and professional manner. If someone has integrity, their actions are consistent with their beliefs, both stated and real. They will not claim to have a certain belief and then act in a way that contradicts this, whether or not they are likely to be caught out.

    Being honest and fair

3.3 Acting with integrity in a professional setting will generally mean being straightforward and honest in your professional and business relationships and dealing fairly with those around you. This expectation extends to situations in which you are promoting your business services."

(see section 3 at the link for the full guidance)

Interesting - the polls were being voted on, with quite a lot of interest so far, and suddenly the results from them have disappeared! Just like that...
I wonder what is going on?

The results have still not returned- disturbing.

No explanation yet from the moderators of reddit/actuaryUK. I have asked for one - at the moment this looks like censorship because the results from votes during the three hours before they were taken down were not showing the IFoA in a good light.

The results of the polls seem to have reappeared on reddit/actuaryuk, after an absence of about 18 hours - good! Odd that they disappeared so suddenly and have now reappeared, also suddenly, it would be nice to understand what the cause was if possible - I've asked the reddit/actuaryuk moderators.
If the polls disappear again, I will try reinstating them here.

As it is now 6 months since the previous polls, I have posted new ones, to try and get some idea of the direction of travel in each area.

Please rate the IFoA's compliance with its own Actuaries' Code with regard to Principles 1 to 6. The polls are at:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/Actuary_news/comments/qo0656/nov_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/ (Principle 1: Integrity)

https://www.reddit.com/r/Actuary_news/comments/qo14ww/nov_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/ (Principle 2: Care and Competence)

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Actuary_news/comments/qo1cu6/nov_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/ (Principle 3: Impartiality)

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Actuary_news/comments/qo1gs6/nov_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/ (Principle 4: Compliance)

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Actuary_news/comments/qo1j41/nov_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/ (Principle 5: Speaking Up)

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Actuary_news/comments/qo1kt2/nov_2021_poll_rate_the_ifoa_on_its_compliance/ (Principle 6: Communication)

Whatever your views, I encourage you to vote so that the polls are as representative as possible :).
Please note that the polls close in 7 days, so by early afternoon on 13 November (the exact time varies by poll, according to the time of its creation).

The polls close in just under 3 days. Whatever your views, I encourage you to vote so that the polls are as representative as possible.
As the IFoA has still not published the results of its 2020 Membership survey (almost a year after it was commissioned), polls like this are one of the few ways to assess how members think the IFoA is doing.
