Past paper practice

Can you please guide till how many years back should one practice the past papers?
I feel since the paper is usually based on current issues, wouldn't doing papers dated older than 2010 (for example) would not be as useful in today's context as the issues change and environment has evolved.

Please guide.

You are OK to go back further than 2010 for SA1, although obviously you may want to be slightly selective about the questions you pick. The more recent papers are likely to be more representative of the "style" of the current SA1 exam.

Topical questions do come up, but so do less topical questions on analysing experience, product design, risk and risk management etc. And even with topical questions, you still need good exam technique in order to be able to produce a good answer. Doing as many past paper questions as you can will help with this, even if the question you get on your paper is not identical. For example, SA1 April 2006 question 2 is still a very askable exam question.

Be a bit more selective with questions on tax and legislation as obviously the bookwork here has changed over the last couple of years. You could still look through them though to get an idea of what has been asked in the past and think about what the answer would be if the question was asked today.

Good luck!

Sarah
